Secure Transport Attendant

**About the Role:**
As a Secure Transport Attendant, you will play a crucial role in the safe and respectful transportation of patients within mental health services. Your responsibilities will include transporting young persons and older adults, some of whom may be detained under the Mental Health Act, to and from hospitals, clinics, courts, and other relevant locations.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Safely transport patients who are detained or informal, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and safety at all times.
- Comply with all relevant mental health legislation, policies, and procedures during transportation.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments prior to each journey and implement appropriate safety measures.
- Provide patient-centred care, offering reassurance and support, particularly when working with vulnerable individuals.
- Assist with patient mobilisation, including helping patients get in and out of vehicles, ensuring proper handling techniques.
- Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of each journey, including patient details, journey times, and any incidents.
- Be on standby and on call as required, ready to respond promptly to urgent transportation needs.
- Work within set shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as part of a flexible rota.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals, security personnel, and emergency services when needed.
- Ensure vehicles are well-maintained, clean, and stocked with necessary equipment and supplies.
**Person Specification:**
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, security, or transportation role is desirable.
- Knowledge of mental health legislation and safeguarding procedures is advantageous.
- Physically fit and able to assist with patient handling and vehicle operations.
- Flexibility to work on-call, standby, and set shift patterns.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection.
**Qualifications:**
- Valid driving license with no more than 3 points
- First Aid at Work / FREC 3 is desired but not essential
- Relevant experience in a mental health setting desirable.
